The Mid Devon Star recently reported on Glenn’s final month of the tour. They said:

A golfer attempting to set a world record for playing the most 18-hole courses in one year will be greeted at the end of his epic journey in Devon by staff from Children's Hospice South West - one of the charities he is raising money for.

Glenn Turner, 46, has travelled around England, Ireland, Wales and Mallorca, sometimes playing more than one round a day in the past year.

His marathon effort is now drawing to a close with his final round due to be played at on March 31 at Nigel Mansell's Woodbury Park Golf Club near Exeter. By that time Glenn hopes to have played over 380 games in the 12 months. During March he will be working his way around golf courses in Devon and Cornwall to reach his target at the end of the month.

Glenn is raising £1 million for the Rhys Daniels Trust's home from home' appeal, which helps families of children with life threatening illnesses and money for hospices around the UK, that are part of the Association of Children's Hospices.

This includes Children's Hospice South West (CHSW), which runs Little Bridge House near Barnstaple, and Charlton Farm near Bristol. CHSW Special Projects Co-ordinator Alison Berridge said: "I met Glenn when he first came to Devon last year and I have been astounded by his drive and determination to set this record and raise funds for organisations like CHSW that help children with life limiting illnesses and their families. I can't wait to see him take his final shot and welcome him to the 19th hole!"

During the 12 months Glenn has driven 18,200 miles, worn out six pairs of shoes walking the equivalent of two marathons a week on the greens and lost two and a half stone and 40 per cent of his upper body strength. He said: "The tour has been incredibly tiring but will be worthwhile when I bring a new world record to Britain and help to raise a large amount of money for charities like Children's Hospice South West.

"The final day of the tour is going to be a celebration of the record being set with Woodbury setting aside 80 places for people to play on the same course as me when I'm playing my final round.

"There are also some fantastic prizes on offer such as a week's golf in Mallorca including flights, accommodation, car hire and five rounds of golf and a weekend at the Belfry.

The £500 per pair entry charge for this day also includes a gala dinner the night before, a prize giving and accommodation as well as the chance of being there when the world record is set."
